At 3Dux, we realize STEM education isn't just about math and science—it's also about art, environment and humanity. We encourage children to imaginatively and practically think through solutions to real-world problems by building structures and environments using the 3DuxDesign award-winning architectural modeling system. With a huge assortment of geometric forms and connectors engineered to fit most cardboard, children never run out of raw material to work with and learn about creative repurposing while they build. 3DuxDesign unleashes the imagination and inspires the change-maker in every child.
But it doesn't stop there. 3DuxUniversity, our online project-based learning hub, gives you the tools to make the most of our sets at home and in the classroom. Together with a diverse, passionate community of thought leaders committed to inspiring the next generation of innovators, we provide a wide range of open-ended design challenges ranging from after-school activities to standards-aligned interdisciplinary curricula, and you can download them right here. By connecting aspiring youth with these scholars and experts in the fields of architecture, engineering, sustainability, art and design, we believe children will have a more authentic learning experience and at the same time gain the wisdom and empathy that may be at risk in an increasingly plugged-in world. And fresh on the scene—make way for 3DuxGlobal, our newest multimedia initiative, designed for transitional live and remote learning environments and connecting children around the world! We believe there is no more authentic way to learn about humanity, culture, community and the environment than through the eyes of other children. Our team-based programs provide opportunity for open dialogue and collaboration so children can form a deeper understanding of what makes us alike and celebrate what makes us unique. In this way, 3DuxGlobal empowers children to communicate and collaborate as they take an active role in building a brighter future.
Our Story
3DuxDesign is a true family business. Growing up in the Klein household required a fair amount of creative improvising. Every year, holiday gift-giving had one rule: Mom would say, "The best gifts are made with our hearts, our hands, and any materials already in the house. They are not bought at a store."
So while millions of holiday shoppers would flock to shops seeking the best Black Friday deals, we would be rummaging through the recycling bin for interesting materials and then head into the basement for to start constructing our gifts. It was magical to watch odds and ends transform into townhouses, parking garages, kitty kingdoms and hamster havens. (Yes, of course even the family pets were involved.) We learned physics creating a pulley for an elevator. We learned about electric circuits making a pinball machine. We learned how to work together. We became innovators and inventors. Little did we know, we were using empathy and the design thinking process to imagine, design and build something for the people who mattered to us.
The best gift we can give children is the freedom to to have an active imagination. Without preset rules and instructions (conspicuously absent from our modeling kits), children will learn to improvise, experiment, and persevere—skillsets that will guide them all throughout life. With the 3DuxDesign Architectural Kits we encourage children to experiment with form, function, creativity and deduction. Our design challenges extend from kindergarten through middle school and are based on design thinking and engineering concepts with a focus on community, communication, empathy, and sustainability.
Giving children the space to create, the possibilities are endless, and the reward is incalculable.
