The Problem
Overnight hiking is lots of fun... but there's so much to carry, and sleeping in the wilderness can be dangerous.

Around the world, huts of different shapes and sizes bridge the gap between the indoors and outdoors.
Your Mission
In this activity, you'll design and build the perfect hut to protect and serve a hiker, all without harming the land.

1. Send us photos of your models plus any sketches or works in progress... even "mess-ups" are great for sharing!
2. Tell us your name, age, hometown, and a little bit about the architects and artists whose work you've incorporated!
3. If you want, record a video walking us through your model. Any emails with photos/videos of a child need to also include a signed release (drag onto desktop, fill out, and return photo or scan of signed document).

The lean-to by Alexa, age 9 features sleeping at one with nature. She is brave enough to face any risks of inclement weather or creatures on the prowl. The floor and walls are beautifully camouflaged.
The eating area is safely protected from wild animals inside the hut. A window allows the hungry hikers to look outside while they feast.
The stone pathway leads to the outhouse. This allows a sleepy hiker to walk safely on solid surface so as not to step on creepy creatures or prickly plants in the night.
